Ferroelectric oxides with perovskite structure possess useful properties (high dielectric constant, large spontaneous polarization, optical nonlinearity). Expressions for nonlinear optical susceptibilities of ferroelectric in the FIR spectral region are derived. Nonlinear process and a feedback mechanism are necessary to obtain optical bistability phenomenon.
Optical nonlinearities in single mode optical fiber (SBS, FWM & SRS) are utilized in generating multiple signal from fiber laser for ultradense wavelength division multiplexing network.
