Greater bandwidth with extraordinary growth of internet applications have brought multiwavelength laser sources the challenge in today’s optical communication systems. The multi-wavelength Brillouin RE-doped fiber lasers are being investigated for generating multiple wavelength signals, in which these signals have the intrinsic properties of rigid frequency spacing and extremely narrow linewidth.  The work on high power GaInNAs semiconductor laser diodes for Raman amplifier pumping is in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia R&D.
